ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in Pennsylvania where I went to high school and college. I chose to branch out and attend Michigan State University (MSU) as part of their online Master of Arts in Foreign Language Teaching (MAFLT) program. Currently, I live in Florida with my beautiful wife, Melanie Kester. We both have an incredible passion for language, as I love to teach language and she is a Speech Language Pathologist. Grove City College was where I decided to become a Spanish teacher because of the many amazing Spanish professors there who had an impact on my life.
During my time within the MAFLT program, I was able to delve deeper into the huge world of language teaching. I was also able to develop my own teaching philosophy, learn how to teach in many different contexts using many different methods, as well as how to use other tools for language teaching (such as technology). I was able to teach for multiple weeks at Curwensville Area High School during my teaching practicum at MSU. I was fully integrated into the classroom and I was able to take control and really show what I had learned during my time in the MAFLT program.
In 1st grade, I was taught some Spanish by a group of high-schoolers as their senior project for Spanish class. To this day, I still use some of the things that they taught us. However, after that, I was not taught more about foreign languages until I reached 7th grade (and even then it was a choice of whether I wanted to or not). Because of this, it has become my passion to bring languages to younger students because I believe there is so much that can be done when learning language at a young age.
