TECHNOLOGY
My biggest strength would be my ability to use technology when it comes to language teaching. I am a strong proponent for the use of technology in the classroom, and I believe the pros definitely outweigh the cons when used correctly. During my practicum, I found that the students were much more focused and engaged when they were able to use technology for the lesson. They loved the use of Kahoot! to test their knowledge of the vocabulary they had been learning. They also really enjoyed the project that they were able to do. Technology can really enhance the classroom and it can even provide extra practice outside of the classroom. It makes the learning process exciting and it keeps the students engaged in a technologically driven world.
Language Lab
One assignment that I completed in the MAFLT program that I am especially proud of is the Ideal Language Lab. In this paper, I lay out some of the many forms of technology that can be used in the language classroom, including artificial intelligence and chatbots. The opportunities are endless with the amount that technology is growing, with more and more programs being developed specifically for language teaching. Some examples of these are the Tactical Language and Culture Training System (TLCTS), Duolingo, Memrise, and older programs like Rosetta Stone. This is why I want to take advantage of these state-of-the-art tools because they not only will enhance the lessons I teach, but they will also show the students how they can continue learning.
